Downtown Dave's Path To Put-in-Bay
His connection to the island began in September 2001, after an unexpected conversation at a Cleveland Browns game with frequent island visitor Stan Loch, who invited him to visit Put-in-Bay. That first trip sparked a lifelong connection to South Bass Island.
Before making Put-in-Bay his home, Dave spent 40 years in the automotive industry, serving as General Manager for multiple major dealerships, including Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Chrysler, and Chevrolet. His executive leadership experience laid the groundwork for his later involvement in island business and civic life.
Put-in-Bay Host And Live Music Fanatic
In 2016, Dave solidified his commitment to the island with the purchase of Ashley’s Island House, a well-known downtown property. He has since served on the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce and remains deeply involved in the island’s tourism and business community.
Known as “Downtown Dave,” he publishes a weekly column on putinbayohio.com, offering firsthand reviews of live music, nightlife, and downtown happenings. His writing has become a trusted resource for both visitors and locals looking for authentic insight into the island experience.
Whether Near Or Far, Dave Always Has One Eye On Put-in-Bay!
In 2025, Dave was elected to the Put-in-Bay Village Council, formalizing years of civic engagement and advocacy. Put-in-Bay is Dave’s home from the minute the ferries are running until the minute they stop. Despite spending winters traveling and cruising, Dave returns to the island regularly, often monthly, to attend council meetings and remain active in civil affairs.
