DeRivera Park’s B-Dock Torn Down

B-Dock Torn Down, New Dock Construction Beginning Soon

Put-in-Bay’s harbor is undergoing a significant transformation. DeRivera Park’s B-Dock has officially been torn down in preparation for the construction of a brand-new, state-of-the-art docking facility. This development marks the beginning of a major upgrade to our island’s Harbor, that promises to bring significant improvements for boaters at the Bay!

A New Beginning For DeRivera Park's B-Dock

The renovation of DeRivera Park B Dock has been made possible by a $1,430,885.50 Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). This funding, coupled with a local match from Put-in-Bay, brings the total project cost to an estimated $2.86 million. The aim is to modernize the dock and create a more efficient, sustainable, and boater-friendly facility, while ensuring that Put-in-Bay remains a top destination for boating enthusiasts from Western Lake Erie and beyond.

Mary Mertz, Director of ODNR, noted that the project is a “vital step in revitalizing DeRivera Park B Dock,” emphasizing that the goal is to create a facility that adheres to the highest safety standards while also being welcoming and accessible for boaters. This development is set to benefit not just local boaters, but also those who visit Put-in-Bay from afar.

What to Expect From The New Dock

The new DeRivera Park B Dock will feature a total of 1,100 linear feet of fixed docks, designed to accommodate up to 75 vessels, including larger boats that are over 26 feet in length. The upgraded facility will include modernized marina improvements with utilities and flexible mooring options that meet the growing needs of today’s boaters. The project is expected to boost tourism and contribute to the island’s economy.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources continues to demonstrate its commitment to the state’s boating infrastructure through initiatives like the BIG grant for Put-in-Bay. The grant, funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is part of a broader effort to support recreational boating across Ohio and to improve marinas, boat ramps, and other vital infrastructure that connects residents and tourists to the water.
