World’s Largest Yellow Duck Coming To Put-in-bay
The Perry Group and Miller Boat Line are excited to announce “The World’s Largest Rubber Duck” will be visiting Put-in-Bay for three days of new initiatives aimed at enlightening community engagement and fostering collaboration within the region. The large and in charge Mama Duck will be visiting Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The massive, inflatable work of art measures 61’ tall, 64’ wide and 74’ long – taller than a six-story building, and is something everyone should see in person. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime photo opp with games and food. You can also snag a “Don’t Give Up the Ship” souvenir duck to remember your visit! The colossal duck will be located at the corner of Langram and Meechen Rd., which is conveniently only a half mile from the Miller Boat Line Dock. The Perry Group is a 501(c)(3) volunteer, nonprofit organization working with the National Park Service and local, national, and international communities to commemorate the Battle of Lake Erie and celebrate the enduring peace between Britain, Canada, and the United States.

View Fireworks From Atop The Monument
The Perry Group wants you to know there’s still time to purchase tickets to watch this year’s fireworks from the top of the Monument. Friends of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial (The Perry Group, Put-in-Bay) have tickets available at $100 a piece to sell for viewing the 2025 July 4th fireworks from the observation deck (317 ft) of Perry’s Victory Monument. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Go to www.theperrygroup.org/events to buy your tickets. Ticket holders will be invited to a special private reception at the Visitors Center at 8 p.m. for a cocktail party with refreshments.

Purple Martin Banding Scheeff
Join Gabi Lindsey of The Winous Point Conservancy and Paula Ziebarth of the Lake Erie Islands Conservancy will be at the Scheeff East Point Preserve on Wednesday, July 2nd, banding the purple martins that return every year to the two gourd rigs at the preserve. There will be a program at 9 a.m. This is a great opportunity to get a close up look at purple martin young and even help with nest material changes.

Anniversary
Happy 140th Anniversary to the Inter-Lake Yachting Association (I-LYA)!
The Inter-Lake Yachting Association was founded in 1885 and has been hosted on Put-in-Bay nearly every year since. Each summer the I-LYA holds several sailing races including the regatta, Junior Race Week and Powerboat Regattas. The Put-in-Bay Yacht Club was founded in 1886 and has served as the host of the I-LYA’s annual Regatta for more than 100 years.
St. Paul’s On YouTube!
St. Paul’s is on YouTube! The church is uploading all its Facebook live videos and is looking into how and if to livestream to both Facebook and Youtube at the same time. Pizza With A Cop
The Put-in-Bay Police Department will be hosting “Pizza with A Cop” on Friday, July 25th, from Noon to 4 p.m. in the Village Town Hall. Pizza with a Cop will give our residents, visitors and businesses a chance to meet and greet your local Officers and foster positive relationships with your Police Department.
Model T’s To Visit PIB
Many 100-year-old Model T’s will be coming to Put-in-Bay on the 10 a.m. Miller ferry on Sunday, July 13th. Members of the Model T Ford Club of America will be touring the island, plus their cars will be on display at the west end of DeRivera Park before they join the antique car parade after lunch.

Predicting HABS
Scientists successfully developed an experimental forecast that can better predict the timing and location of an elevated risk of toxins from harmful algal blooms (HABs) on Lake Erie, thanks to recent research from NOAA and a team of university collaborators. Earlier detection of the toxin growing in the lake will help with better predictions of HABs levels.

Mike and Susan Byrnes travelled to Jackson Hole, WY to visit their son Joseph where he’s working for the summer. Dave & Michelle McArtor from PIB Road and their daughter Madison were in Italy where they visited Pompei and Mt. Vesuvius, Greece, Crete and Slovenia. Greece, Crete and Slovenia. Peter and Amy Huston enjoyed a Trent-Severn Waterway cruise from Peterborough to Georgian Bay Canada. Passing through many locks and lakes.
Kelleys Island Airport
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) recently announced a federal aviation award of $361,361 for the Village of Kelleys Island to fund the second phase of an Environmental Assessment for planned runway safety improvements, including the relocation of Monaghan Road. “We appreciate this recognition as this is one small step in the process going forward, to improve our airport safety and efficiency,” said Ron Ehrbar, Mayor of Kelley’s Island.
Tropa Service Industry Nights
It’s Tropa Service Industry Night every Tuesday from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Claw Daddy’s and The Burgee Bar at the Boardwalk.
