Last Call For Perry’s Monument!

Top of Monument Closing For Two Seasons, Visitors’ Center Will Remain Open

Big news for anyone who hasn’t made it to the top of Perry’s Monument recently. This rite of passage for Put-in-Bay fans will not be possible for the next two seasons, so you’d better get up there before October 27th!

The Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial will be closing for two seasons for major construction work on the upper and lower plazas. This will make the top of the monument inaccessible to the public until the 2028 season.

Perry’s Monument will be open daily through September 29th from 10:00AM-5:00PM, and starting October 3rd it will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00AM-5:00PM, until October 27th when it closes, not just for the season, but for the 2026 and 2027 seasons as well.

While the Monument Will Be Closed Down, the Perry’s Complex Will Remain Operational

There’s a lot more going on at the site than just the monument itself, and we’re happy to report that those operations will continue. The beautiful Perry’s Visitors’ Center will remain open, which is full of great exhibits.

There will also be Park Rangers running programs and demonstrations, and giving talks and informational events as always.

About Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial

Towering 352 feet above Lake Erie and dominating the skyline around it, Perry’s Monument is the fifth tallest man-made landmark in America and the tallest Doric Column in the world. It’s also a national park. From the top, on a clear day, you can see the shoreline of Canada.

Speaking of Canada, the monument is a celebration of the peace between the United States, Canada and Great Britain since hostilities ceased in the War of 1812.

Completed in 1915, for the approximate centennial of the Battle of Lake Erie, it honors the soldiers on all sides who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, which was Put-in-Bay’s most famous moment from a global, historical perspective.
