Boom At The Bay: July 4th

Put-in-Bay’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration is one of the island’s most anticipated summer traditions. Each year, thousands of visitors gather along the waterfront to watch a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Erie. It’s one of the three big summer holidays, along with Memorial Day and Labor Day, that bring a great family crowd to the island.

The festive atmosphere makes Put-in-Bay a popular destination for both day trips and extended holiday weekends. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or share the experience with us every year, the Fourth of July fireworks provide a memorable experience and a perfect way to celebrate America’s birthday.

The World’s Largest Rubber Duck comes back to the Bay! Standing several stories tall, the giant inflatable duck has become a popular sight at waterfront events around the world. This is the second visit of Mama Duck, after last year’s huge success. Mama Duck visits locations all around the world, but, while we may be biased, there’s something extra special about seeing this duck higher up than anything except the monument!

ILYA Regattas, Declaration 250 and more

The back-end of the month sees a host of boating events sponsored by the Inter-Lake Yachting Association. July 12th to the 16th is Junior Bay Week, in which junior sailors partake in classes that earn them points towards national competitions. July 22-26 is the Power Regatta, and July 29-August 2 is the Sail Regatta. These are two massive weeks of races, seminars, classes and special events for power boaters and sail boaters respectively.

We will be writing much more about this elsewhere, but it’s also worth mentioning that July 31st, the last day of the month, is the first day of Declaration 250, which figures to be the largest Put-in-Bay event of the season. Most of the festivities are taking place on August 1-2, but July 31 is the kickoff of this event. Stay tuned for more on Declaration 250!
