My Thoughts For The Week

So this weeks thought is really about life. In most of these posts I try to make everybody think. Well this weeks post is sport related. As many of you know I play softball on Put in Bay. Well on Monday something happened that never happened to me before in my softball career.

 We were down 12-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning. So I figured that we were done. Most of the islanders that came to also watch the game left. We were not playing well and we could not hit the ball at all. No way we could come back. We scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 12-5. We are still down by 7 with only 3 outs left. I still had my doubts but our first batter playing in maybe his 3rd ever game grounded the ball to the picture and he ran faster then I ever saw anybody run to first base all year. He was safe then it was my turn. Well the pitcher could not throw me a strike so I took a walk. We needed baserunners. Then every batter that came up got on base. After a few more hits we were still down by 4. Then Jo Jo got up and cleared the bases and score was tied. Still no outs 2 more guys got on base and then a ground out and we scored the winning run in walk off fashion.

Well this post is really not about baseball, it is about life, belief and teamwork. Without teamwork and belief we could not have won that game. Life is the same thing.. Teamwork…. In a marriage or relationship it takes 2 people but it also takes a team of friends to help the 2 of you through tough times. If you get sick it takes a team of doctors and nurses to help you get healthy. If one of the people in your team fails the team fails. But belief is the most important aspect. You have to believe that you will get better when you are sick You have to believe that your marriage will work out. You have to believe that being down 11 runs with 6 outs left that you can win. Never ever give up and never stop believing that things can work out. That is the only way that you win the game of life.

Closing Thoughts

We now have reached the halfway point of the summer. I know it is sad to think about that but you still have plenty of time to enjoy a visit to Put in Bay. I am going to make a few midseason observations so far.

The music has been awesome. A lot of the old favorites have been lighting up the stages but also some new solo acts have been showing that they belong. A few more places are offering you to be the star singing Karaoke. Menus have changed a bit but I believe the options are really good if you want a good meal. The weather has been challenging at times but overall the weather has been great.

In talking to many businesses and walking around a lot I think the crowds have been good but not too crowded that you cannot enjoy yourself. I know that if you want to come during the week a lot of places are offering deals on weekday lodgings. I know there are a lot of places that you can spend your hard earned dollars but I think that Put in Bay offers a great value and a great environment to have fun.
