Downtown Dave: 9/18-9/27 Live Music Report

Downtown Dave: 9/18-9/27 Live Music Report
Well only a few more posts to go for the 2026 season on Put in Bay.
So last Saturday night I stayed home. This was the first Saturday night all season at Put in Bay that I decided not to go out. I am surprised that nobody called me to see if I was feeling okay. LOL. But it was a very busy week and I just felt that I needed a nice quiet night. Or maybe after watching Ohio State lose I was bummed. But I determined many years ago that I would not let a sports team that I root for control my life. Being a Cleveland Sports fan I have my share of losses in my lifetime. But then again I am not that young anymore but maybe I go out all of the time because of FOMO. That is The Fear Of Missing Out. I have really thought alot about that term and if I really have that disease? In some ways I think I do but then again it is just my way of enjoying what life has to offer. I really do not have a fear of missing out on anything because I sort of do whatever I want. I have been pretty independent all of my life. I have been very fortunate to have the philosophy to learn from the past but live in the present. That has allowed me to start everyday like it is the beginning of my life.
More after the music!

Put-in-Bay Live Music Schedule 9/18-9/27

As you can see from this week’s music schedule a lot of the venues do not have daily music scheduled. But that should not stop you from coming to Put in Bay. The weather is still fantastic and there is still lots to do on the island. Sometimes just taking a walk through the many parks on the island will do a lot for somebody’s mental health. Or even finding a place to watch the sunset with somebody special can make a day special. You will notice a few changes in the band schedule from last weeks post.

2026 putinbayohio.com’s Best Places To Stay!

My Thoughts For The Week

I need to share a few thoughts about my guests here at Ashley’s Island House. So first I want to include an email from somebody that stayed with us last week.

Hi Dave,

After being away from Put-in-Bay for about 45 years, returning last week was deeply meaningful. I spent every summer there from 1955 through 1972, when my grandparents had a summer home on Peach Point. Those were some of the most wonderful childhood summers anyone could imagine. My wife was visiting the island for the first time, and she absolutely fell in love with it.

Ashley’s Island House made our return even more special. Dave is an exceptional host—warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to making his guests feel welcome. He took time to share his extensive local knowledge and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

The house is charming, spotless, comfortable, and perfectly located just a short walk from downtown, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Our room was cozy, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and even the towels were remarkably soft. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with plenty of choices, and the inviting front porch became one of our favorite places to relax and visit after a day on the island.

Whether you are visiting Put-in-Bay for the first time or returning to reconnect with treasured memories, Ashley’s Island House is the place to stay. We could not recommend it more highly—and we will definitely be back.

This is why I have the bed and breakfast on Put in Bay. The positive memories that I make for people. That review is more important than the money that they paid me to stay.

Then I had a guest check in today and brought me a bottle of Rum from the outer banks. Now in really analyzing this it is very humbling that they were on vacation and thought of me and went to trouble to buy the bottle just to bring it back and give it to me. They are not the only ones that do this. My boss from 1982-1990 tried to stay with us this week but we were full but he did rent a golf cart from us and he brought me a real nice bottle of bourbon. He did not have to do that. My bourbon collection is growing weekly from all of the additions from my guests. I wish that I bought the B and B a long time ago. But life has a way of taking you down a different path at times and I have enjoyed all of the twists and turns that I have been on.

So I will make a brief mention of my Sports teams. I will always be a fan win or lose. Yesterday I decided to drive to Cleveland and watch them play a game that if they won they would be in first place. They won and it was a great game. It brought back many memories of all of the games I have saw there. Will they go on and win the World Series? I doubt it but you can dream.

Now my pitiful Browns. I hate to say this but they are becoming tough to watch. But of course I will still be there next week in person. Am I stupid to waste money on them. Well I have said many times humans are creatures of habit and I guess since I have only missed 2 home games since 1979 I have been stupid for a long time. But I will probably still continue going. If you are one of those also that will be attending the game stop by the tailgate at 386 West Lakeside dowtown. We should have over 150 people and I put together a nice spread. The Browns will probably lose again but we never lose a tailgate.

So on to this weeks schedule. Still lots of great entertainment on the island and remember it is not to early to make plans for the 2027 season on Put in Bay. It will be Put in Bays 150th Birthday.
