Alligator Spotted In Lake Erie
An alligator was recently spotted swimming in Lake Erie. Beachgoers in Erie, Pennsylvania spotted an alligator near the East Avenue Boat Launch. Several individuals claimed to have seen a four-to five-foot-long alligator. Eyewitnesses contacted authorities, who then passed the information along to the Erie Port Authority. A search for the beast was launched, but no word on if it was captured. Don’t worry, you can still go into the lake around the islands.

Thank You!
We wish to thank the Middle Bass Barbershop Harmony Quartets for their performances Aug. 9th at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church on South Bass Island and on Aug. 10th at the Lonz Winery Cellars on Middle Bass Island. Thanks to Jim Wilson for the opportunity, Mother of Sorrows and The Island Grind for hosting, and for volunteers Patty LoPresti, Ken and Ann Shelton, Leah Bilski, Peggy Leopold, and Olive O’Rourke Sherf who worked their magic with the crowds. – Lisa Brohl, Chair

How is Your Internet?
PIB Village Mayor Judy Berry and IT consultant Brian Cultice recently met with Ann Zimmerman, Federal Program Officer, Ohio for the federal program Internet for All. Ann explained that there is a grant program in which the government is giving grants to ensure every household will at least 100/20 mbps internet within the next 3 years. Currently, we do not have enough data for every household on the island to see if we qualify for the grant. If you are experiencing internet problems or low speeds at your island home we encourage you to visit https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov and select internet service issues. There is a simple form that allows you to choose which issues apply to your household.
